What is a Blog?

The online dictionary wikipedia.com defines:

A Blog (a contraction of the term “Web log”) is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Simply said: A Blog is a website (or a part of a website) that focuses on actuality. Articles are posted  regularly and displayed with the newest entry first.  Since this technology is database driven, the content is archived enabling the reader to search for information in terms of time, topic and keyword (‘tags’).

Search engines keep track of the frequency that websites are being updated. Publications with ongoing new content are  ranked higher than similar sites that are rarely updated. A unique feature of blogs is the possibility to submit the content to social networking sites, attracting more visitors and prospective clients.

Interactions with visitors: discussions and questions on your Blog:
Blogs have the possibility of allowing visitors to comment on your posts, we recommend using this feature only if you or your assistants are willing to spend time on reviewing comments and posts. If you do, you decide which comments and questions are displayed on your site.
